About Me
My Background
My name is Sean McCurdy and I am a lifelong Ellicott City resident and proud husband and father. I am an IT project engineer by profession, but my real passion stems from being a fierce community advocate and youth basketball coach. I am humbly asking for your support to be your next county councilman because I hope to apply a smarter, more coherent vision to development and redevelopment in Ellicott City and Elkridge. I also will work harder to ensure that our county council is more responsive to the public safety and budgetary needs of our growing community. I am committed to always maintaining open lines of communication with you--the citizens--focusing on issues that matter to us, and when progress stalls, bring people together to advance the conversation to make strong public policy where everyone is represented.

- Support comprehensive plan to manage the pace and extent of new subdivisions and infill development in Old Ellicott City and along the Route 1 corridor
- Advance no-cost measures that would better control flooding in old Ellicott City and the established neighborhoods that surround it

- Provide prudent financial management of county revenues and expenses so that our AAA bond rating and long-term fiscal health stay intact for the foreseeable future
- Support tax credits to benefit seniors, members of our military and public safety officers
- Oppose taxing and regulatory measures that have a disparate impact on small businesses, particularly minority-owned businesses

- Fully fund special education and ensure that we have highly qualified, appropriately trained educators working with our students with disabilities
- Address school overcrowding not with more trailers and radical school redistricting, but with smarter, more coherent planning and zoning measures

- Address rising concerns of human trafficking and child trafficking along the Route 1 corridor
